Busted For Selling FAKE CBD Oil, Gretchen Rossi and Slade Smiley Are Amid a Scam! – TheCannabisRadar

CBD has been trending in the past year after the annual Farm Bill legalized hemp, Cannabis Sativa plant, which contains a high amount of CBD. Cannabidiol, or popularly known as CBD, a non-psychoactive compound with anti-inflammatory properties is known for its medicinal values. It is touted for its benefits in alleviating the symptoms of many severe diseases including cancer, epilepsy, Alzheimer’s and even Tourettes.

CBD has gradually become a regular product in many households. It is not only used in treating life-threatening diseases, but for reducing chronic pain, inflammation, muscle injuries, anxiety, insomnia, stress, depression, and many other ailments. There is an array of CBD products that includes gummies, chocolates, oil, tincture, topical, cream, ointment, isolate, vape pen, pet products and much more.

Ranging from skincare to lifestyle, CBD is infused in a variety of products and can be easily found in brick and mortar shops as well as on websites. With the increasing inclination towards CBD, more people have started investing in the CBD industry heavily.

Back in January 2019, Gretchen Rossi and Slade Smiley had collaborated with a company called BioReigns to launch a range of high-quality CBD oil that claims to contain 560 mg of CBD.

Recently, Gretchen showed her love for CBD products on her Instagram handle and said how it has helped her manage her postpartum symptoms. She explained how she took Limitless in the morning, CBD daily in the afternoon and CBD Zzz at night to help her with the symptoms. She wrote that she didn’t want to take pharmaceutical drugs and CBD has proven to be an effective treatment for her.

However, an investigation was conducted on various CBD companies to find out if they actually had the highest quality products they were claiming and if they were honest. Gretchen, the star from The Real Housewives of Orange County, was also a part of this investigation and it was revealed that her CBD product contained less than 2mg of CBD as opposed to 560 mg like the label fraudulently claimed.

Gretchen Rossi and Slade Smiley have been endorsing various products aggressively on social media amidst their financial struggles. Earlier in May this year, Rossi’s Orange County home was in danger of foreclosure after she fell behind on her mortgage payments summing up to $26,000.

The two had tried really hard to conceive but were only recently blessed with a child. The couple welcomed their first child together, Skylar Gray, a girl, on Wednesday, July 10.

The Unregulated CBD Market

There is an array of CBD products ranging from pure oils to lotions to gummies that caters to consumers from all age groups. However, the US Food and Drug Administration is concerned regarding the rising unregulated CBD companies. Most of the products that are sold in the market are not properly licensed, tested or authorized.

The agency recently issued warning letters to 15 companies for marketing their products in ways that violate the Federal, Food, Drug and Cosmetics Act. While it is legal to sell and consume hemp and its derived products like CBD, the guidelines for marketing these products is not clearly outlined.

The FDA had organized a public meeting on May 31 earlier this year, with stakeholders, business leaders, consumers, retailers, and others to discuss about CBD. There has been no concrete guidelines or mandate formed after the meeting regarding the marketing or consumption of CBD and its products.

However, the FDA is now scouting through CBD companies to identify whether their products actually contain what they claim or is put on the label or not. They are also warning companies to strictly not advertise their products as an alternative to medication or with medicinal benefits unless proven by authentic labs and authorized by the government.

The only approved cannabis-based medicine by the FDA is Epidiolex, an oral solution, used to reduce the symptoms of two rare and severe forms of epilepsy- Dravet syndrome and Lennox Gastaut syndrome.

Research suggests that CBD is a potent substance that can aid patients with a variety of ailments. However, there’s not much data to back up these medical claims. It is recommended to consumers that they properly research about CBD before they invest in any CBD-based product.
