Epilepsy is a chronic brain disorder which results in patients suffering from recurring seizures. The cause of the seizures is largely unknown, however, there are indications that brain injury, strokes, or brain tumors can trigger the disease. Epileptic seizures are caused due to excessive activity of neurons in the brain creating neurobiological imbalances. Conventional medicine can help control the situation or even cure it completely in some cases.
There is evidence that cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant, such as CBD, may be useful in treating epilepsy, although research is still at a very early stage and scientists have no conclusive data. However, there have been many news stories and viral videos which claim to demonstrate CBD’s ability to alleviate seizures.
