If you’re new to the world of products derived from hemp , you’ve probably come across tons of new terms and topics that can make it difficult to know exactly which products you’re looking at. Although there’s no universally agreed upon system for naming these products, we’re going to explain the difference between CBD oil and hemp oil to help you get you on the right track.

CBD Oil:
CBD is short for cannabidiol and is one of the primary compounds found in different cannabis plants. Although CBD oil has not been approved by the FDA for any medical uses, we encourage you to independently look into studies surrounding both the anti-inflammatory and = properties of CBD on your own. CBD is also sometimes labelled or sold as CBD rich hemp oil, full-spectrum CBD oil or tinctures, and broad-spectrum CBD oil or tinctures.

CBD can also be extracted out into a pure, isolate form and then added to other products.

Hemp Oil:
Hemp oil, also known as “hemp seed oil” is a nutrient rich oil extracted from the seeds of the hemp plant. It’s considered a “super food” by some, having high concentrations of healthy omega fatty acids. Although the hemp plant itself contains CBD, products marketed as hemp oil typically do not contain CBD.

Due to hemp seed oil sometimes being referred to as simply “hemp oil”, it’s understandably confusing as to what exactly you’re buying. Some companies and products don’t make a clear distinction between whether or not a product contains true CBD oil or simply hemp seed oil.

In Summary:
Generally speaking, while they both are derived from cannabis plants, CBD oil contains CBD whereas hemp oil does not. But to be totally sure about whether or not a product contains CBD, just be sure to read the description of the product.

It’s also important to note that the science surrounding CBD is very new and much more research is needed to determine all of the effects that CBD has. Any statements regarding medical uses for CBD are not approved by the FDA and as sellers of CBD products, we can’t make any claims regarding the efficacy of CBD. Do your own research to help decide if CBD is right for you!
